Thursday the weather at Hueston Woods in Oxford, OH by the beautiful campus of Miami University was some of the nicest we’ve seen. While a bit breezy at times with 10-15mph it was a great summer day for golf.
Mason’s Ally Madden too full advantage of it carding an impressive 2-under par 70 in round 1. While a solid round, that left her one stroke off the lead as another accomplished junior, and two-time D2 state champion Kyleigh Dull, who had bested her by 1 stroke. While anything can happen in golf, at 4 strokes ahead of the field, day 2 was setup to be a battle between these two.
In round 2, Madden and Dull fought a back and forth battle to the end but Madden could never capture the lead. Down heading in the 18th hole, Madden did not want her streak to end. She knocked it to a 5 feet and made the birdie to tie up the match and force a playoff. After three straight pars, she came out victorious as her steady approach outlasted Dull and secured her third straight victory in this short 2020 season.
